What is the IPL?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league held in India every year, usually between March and May. Regarded as the world’s richest and most glamorous cricket league, IPL features teams representing Indian cities, filled with international superstars, young Indian talent, and legendary coaches. The fast-paced, high-stakes tournament is famous for spectacular finishes, dramatic chases, and unforgettable entertainment both on and off the field.

Brief History

2008: The IPL is launched with 8 city-based teams and huge global interest.
2010: First IPL match broadcast live on YouTube; Chennai Super Kings win their first title.
2015–2022: League expands to 10 teams. Mumbai Indians and CSK dominate, but other teams shine too.
2024: Record viewership and prize money, and new stars emerge!
